By integrating Forethought directly into Slack, you can streamline your workflows and boost productivity—all without leaving Slack. Whether it’s addressing employee questions about HR policies, assisting customers with support issues in external channels, or providing quick access to financial data, Solve for Slack empowers your team to communicate more effectively and work more efficiently – all by using @Forethought

Streamlined Knowledge Access Across Your Organization

Company-Wide Knowledge Base Access

With Solve for Slack, your entire organization can swiftly find answers by utilizing a centralized knowledge base. This feature ensures that everyone—from new hires to seasoned employees—has quick access to vital information.

Example: Consider a scenario where the Marketing team needs to implement a new campaign. By creating an Autoflow with the campaign brief and collateral, team members can instantly retrieve the latest brand guidelines, campaign templates, and performance metrics, allowing them to hit the ground running without unnecessary delays.

Department-Specific Enablement

Solve for Slack also provides tailored support for individual departments, pulling answers directly from dedicated knowledge bases. This targeted approach helps address the unique needs of each team, enhancing their efficiency and productivity.

Example: In the IT department, when a team member encounters a technical issue, they can ask @Forethought for troubleshooting steps. The bot quickly provides relevant solutions from the IT knowledge base, reducing downtime and helping the team maintain productivity.

How to Access and Use the Forethought App in Slack

Once the Forethought app is installed in Slack, it can be added to Slack channels and accessed through a direct message with the Forethought app, under Apps. It is not available in group messages.

There are currently two ways to access the Forethought App.

1. Add the Forethought App Directly to a Channel

By adding the Forethought app to a Slack channel, every member of that channel can interact with it.

  • Here are the steps:
    • Add the Forethought app to your desired Slack channel.
    • In the channel, tag the app by typing @Forethought in your message or comment.FT app in channel.png

2. Start a Direct Message (DM) with the Forethought App

You can have a one-on-one conversation with the Forethought app by sending it a direct message.

  • Here are the steps:
    • Navigate to your Slack direct messages or App section.
    • Start a new DM with the Forethought app.
    • Simply type your questions without needing to tag the app.

After you’ve reached out to the Forethought app, it will react to your message with an ? emoji. This means that it’s searching through your connected knowledge base for accurate information.

Within a few moments, the app will reply with the information you’ve requested. It may also provide links to related articles or resources for further reference.

Monitoring Usage

Once in use, you’ll probably want to monitor the activity of the conversations your users were conducting with the Forethought app. You can monitor this by visiting the Slack tab on the Forethought dashboard.
